How We Help

The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County offers a variety of programming to meet the social, emotional, educational and recreational needs of members of the greater Annapolis area. These programs are innovative, engaging and follow best practices in their respective fields. Over the course of almost 90 years, the YWCA has evolved to respond to the changing desires of the community and is proud to offer the following compliment of services.

Program Spotlights:

Play Therapy

The YWCA's licensed therapists understand that services for children need to be developmentally appropriate and presented in a way that is engaging. Through a fun, interactive, and delightful environment, children will have the opportunity to be creative in a non-judgmental and emotionally supportive atmosphere. This provides children with an environment where they can heal emotionally while "playing."

Art Therapy

The YWCA is thrilled to offer Art Therapy in our newly completed Healing Arts Studio. The studio was made possible through private donations, grants, and a significant gift from the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Art Therapy program is led by licensed Art Therapist, Lauren Bark. Programs included individual and group sessions for both children and adults. With services available for children as young as 4, this is a wonderful and creative way that allows individuals to feel safe in addressing the trauma they have experienced. Whether it be pastels, pottery, collages, or paint, there is no “right or wrong” when creating art! All services are on a sliding fee scale to ensure everyone interested in this special service can participate. For more information or to visit the program, please call (410) 626-7800.
